Ben Franklin

Photo from Internet- I like this Ben.
To recover from last week's 5ThingsFriday I cleaned our apartment. Let me rephrase, I deep cleaned the apartment. It looks amazing. This inspired Joel to go through his closet and drawers. I feel so content after a good clean. My life seems organized and healthy when my space is tidy.

After Joel and I started dating, he told me about something he tries to practice day to day which he fondly refers to as "Ben Franklin."

"Ben Franklin" simply means spending 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes at night tidying up, organizing or cleaning your living space.

20 mins a day really does keep your home clean and you won't have to make it a full day event like I did on Friday. In addition, according to something Joel read a long time ago, Franklin associated a daily ritual of cleaning as a physical manifestation of an internal organization of the days thoughts and emotions.

Whether Franklin actually did this or not doesn't really matter to me. I believe it to be true. This is a practical discipline that benefits my life mentally, physically and spiritually. Perhaps a practice like this would benefit yours too?
